Eco-friendly Business Cards and Stickers All

MorningPrint has several environmentally friendly options to choose from in both our paper and plastic selections. Ranging in color, texture and material, they each have their own characteristics.

1. Vintage Kraft

Eco-friendly Business Cards and Stickers Vintage Kraft

Vintage Kraft

Vintage Kraft is made of recycled paper pulp creating eco-friendly paper for business cards. Since it is made of recycled pulp, at times it is possible to feel a hairy texture on this paper. It also has a rich brown color, similar to the color of cardboard. Due to its dark coloring, black prints the best of all the other color choices.

We have also turned Vintage Kraft into a sticker, becoming one of the two eco-friendly sticker options from MorningPrint. It is also possible to choose this paper for both our post card sizes, 4×6 and 5×7.
An excellent finishing option choice for this business card is Foiling.

2. Aquarelle/Heavy Aquarelle

Eco-friendly Business Cards and Stickers Aquarelle

Aquarelle with Raised Ink

A matte, creamy white textured paper Aquarelle and it’s thicker partner Heavy Aquarelle are another option for eco-friendly business cards. Both have received a certificate with a five star rating from the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) saying these papers meet their standards for forest management. As a watercolor paper, both absorb color well and reflect watercolor designs the best.
Aquarelle is available in our postcard sizes 4×6 and 5×7.
Our favorite finishing option to pair with this paper is Raised Ink.

3. Yupo

Eco-friendly Business Cards and Stickers Yupo

Yupo

Yupo is a creamy white synthetic paper, which makes it an eco-friendly business card. Ironically, it does not have natural paper feel as it is cool to the touch and quite smooth.
At 9pt it is also our thinnest paper selection for environmentally friendly business cards. However, it is also our most durable because it is both waterproof and tear proof.
This paper was also made into a sticker, called Durable Sticker, for our strongest sticker and second eco-friendly sticker option.

4. Plastics

Eco-friendly Business Cards and Stickers Clear Plastic

Clear+White Plastic

Contrary to popular belief, the majority of our plastic business cards are made of PET plastic. PET plastic is recognized as a safe, non-toxic,  lightweight and flexible material that is 100% recyclable. This material is very thin, around the thinness of a water bottle.
We have a variety of options to choose from such as Clear, White, Silver and Hologram plastic business cards.

What You Need to Know: Clear Plastic Business Cards

The Clear Plastic Family from MorningPrint consists of Clear Plastic (No White Ink), Clear+White Plastic, Clear Plus Plastic, Opaque White Plastic. All these plastic business cards have several characteristics in common.

1. PET Plastic- All our clear plastics are made of PET plastic, which is an environmentally friendly plastic, which is the same thinness as the plastic of a water bottle.

2. As a plastic, these business cards are prone to scratching, especially when rubbed against surfaces or each other consistently. For the best care of these business cards we recommend keeping them in their storage boxes and only take them out when you need them.

3. Due to their clarity, transparent plastic business cards can only accommodate a single sided design because a double sided design will overlap creating not design and legibility issues.

What You Need to Know Clear Plastic Business Cards (No White Ink) Nail Polish Edited

Clear Plastic (No White Ink)
Clear Plastic (No White Ink) is a completely clear plastic business card. It as clear as looking through a glass window. In order to maintain this level of transparency, we need to use transparent ink. That means your designs will also be see through.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind when using this product:

1. Thin fonts, light colors and small details are all difficult to view on this card.
2. This clear business card has a very clean feeling to it due to it’s transparency. Therefore, simple designs with plenty of clear space tend to pop more with this busienss card.
3. MorningPrint’s design advice for this type of business card is to utilize rich black through out most of the design as it can appear almost solid. Rich black color values would be-
C:20% M:20% Y:20% K:100%
In order to accommodate color, we suggest using them as accents in your design for either art or on information which is not the most important.

What You Need to Know Clear Plastic Business Cards +White Nail Polish Edited

Clear+White Plastic
Clear+White Plastic products are the same clear material as the Clear Plastic (No White Ink) meaning it has the same clarity as looking through a window. To maintain this level of transparency, we also use transparent ink. The main difference between these two clear plastic business cards is that Clear+White Plastic is able to print white ink on to designs.
The special part about our white ink is that it can be printed as is on the card, or it can be used to go behind your colored ink design in order to create a solid design against a clear card. In adding white ink behind your design, you will also be increasing legibility on your card. In order to indicate what part of your design should include white ink, you will need to submit a second design file where all white ink areas will be designed in all black.
If you do not wish to incorporate white ink behind your design, all printed areas without white ink will be the same printing result as if the design was printed on Clear Plastic (No White Ink).

What You Need to Know Clear Plastic Business Cards Opaque Nail Polish Edited

Opaque White Plastic
Opaque White Plastic is a sheer translucent card with slight white ink throughout. It is an excellent choice for intricate designs incorporating many small details and thin fonts. It also prints simple designs relying on a white ink background quite well.

The white tint throughout the business card makes any design printed on it pop a bit more. Colors will appear more saturated in the final printing result compared to the Clear Plastics.

As for it’s transparency, if someone looks through the card, objects close by will be very easy to see, but objects far away will be difficult to see.

What You Need to Know Clear Plastic Business Cards Plus Nail Polish Edited

Clear Plus Plastic
Clear Plus Plastic is a solid white rectangle with a clear border. However, it should not be mistaken for a solid card, as it is still a clear business card with the ability for single side printing. The white rectangle centered in this card actually resembles our Opaque White Plastic, which allows light and images to shine through a translucent white background.
This card is also an excellent choice for those who small details or intricate designs. However, it also has a very clean feel to it, like the Clear Plastics (No White Ink), so the final printing result of simple designs with wide space for the material to shine through will pop more.

Wedding Stationery: Special Touches

Hello there,

It is Ava and I’m here to talk about how you can add special touches to your wedding stationery using the latest trends. Let’s get started.

Wedding Invitation Blue
1. Monograms are a big hit. You can use our Metal Stickers to create a personalized monogram to decorate all your wedding invitations. Metal Stickers come in two colors, gold and silver. Intricate, delicate designs really stand out on this material. With such a strong adhesion, they can be applied to just about anything such as menu cards, invitations, etc.

2. Custom shaped papers, called Die Cuts, are becoming a must have for people who want to showcase their individuality. They can be cut to any size or style and useful for your extra, but necessary information; such as accommodation, transportation etc. We published an article on Die Cuts last week. If you wish to read about die cuts in more detail, please follow this link- Die Cuts: The Most Customizable Cards.

3. Using plastic or leather for wedding stationery is another exciting wedding trend. We offer Opaque White Plastic Postcards, in both the 4×6 and 5×7 sizes. Our Opaque White Plastic is made of a PET material, meaning it is environmentally friendly. It is durable, being both waterproof and tear proof. Depending on your design, Opaque White Plastic can be modern, futuristic or fun.

4. Texture is another big trend for those who wish to use paper choices. Textured paper, such as Scotland can give the organic, woodland feel which is popular for Fall. Heavy Linen has a woven pattern and will always  look upscale or outdoorsy. according to the feel of your wedding. Aquarelle  has a watercolor paper texture, which gives it a natural romantic feel and will work well to set an outdoorsy ambiance.
Wedding Invitations Embossing
Now, if you like the idea of the texture trend, but prefer a smooth paper stock, like Heavy Nouveau, we have an out of the box idea for you.  Add Embossing or Raised Ink to put a twist on the texture trend. Your guests will be able to see and feel the imprint of both these options on your stationery, giving you slight texture.

5. Foiling, especially Gold Foiling, is a classic and this style is still going strong. However, to the metallic color trend, other foiling colors such as Silver, Matte Silver and Bronze are rising in popularity as well. For those who have a different color scheme, but would still like to include foiling, MorningPrint also offers Pink, Blue, Red, Green, and Hologram. These last colors also fall in the category of another wedding trend, bold colors.

Wedding Invitation Foiling

*Special Note: You can combine embossing and foiling to create a raised and metallic effect. Since both finishing options are pressed on, we can do both at the same time and guarantee a beautiful outcome*

Geometric Wedding Invitations

6. Geometric designs, both modern and art deco are all the rage this season. Most use foiling to create their designs, and it looks beautiful. However, if you prefer a more subtle way to incorporate the geometric trend into your papers, we suggest considering Spot UV. Spot UV is a flat, reflective, transparent material that can be seen but not felt. Those interested in this special feature will need to order Standard Coated 14 pt Matte.

Q:  Could you please provide a brief history of your company and the type of services you offer?

Founded in 2006 by Patrick Sullivan and Patrick Robinson, Page One Web Solutions, located in Portland, Maine, offers web design, web development, and internet marketing services to our clients. We take the time to listen to our clients’ challenges and goals then create custom campaigns tailored to their needs. We specialize in WordPress website design/development, WordPress Multisite Development, WooCommerce eCommerce platform, SEO, Paid Search, and Google Analytics.

Q: Can you talk about some of the inspirations for your business card design?

We did quite a bit of research to come up with the designs for our business cards. In our (digital) industry, many times business cards get thrown right into the trash after adding it to the company CRM. We wanted cards that were fun and unique, like our business, as well as memorable. We have found that, not only do people like our business cards, they are great conversation starters! We’ve even heard people say, “I want to collect them all,” like sports cards! This article was used as part of our inspiration.

pows_2Q: Portraiture is not something you see very much of in corporate business design. What were the motivations behind this design element?

We wanted our business cards to have a personal touch – beyond our name, company logo and contact information. Since the cards would be transparent/translucent, people would be able to place the cards over their licenses or hold them up in front of someone to see what they would look like with those facial features.

Q: By the way, where did everybody’s nose and eyes disappear to? 😉

Haven’t you ever seen: http://p1ws.me/1TeK3TB ? Just kidding! Items like noses and eyes were left out to keep the portraits on the abstract side while still allowing individual’s defining characteristics to be displayed, and allow these missing features to show through from the faces/pictures placed behind the cards. Over time, some portraits have included noses and eyelashes.

Q: How are you liking our opaque white plastic cards?

We really like them! We still get lots of great comments and feedback about our cards!

Q: The thickness of our plastic cards is something people either love or aren’t happy with (we are hoping you are in the former camp.) What are some advantages or disadvantages you can see with the thickness of our plastic cards?

Some advantages are that the thickness makes them unique than a paper card, especially helpful when you put your business card into a drawing (they tend to get picked!). Because of the material they also don’t rip and rarely fold. Some disadvantages are that they are a bit slippery feeling and hard to write on without a permanent marker.

pows_3Q: Did you consider other stock options, like clear + white plastic, before choosing opaque white plastic?

We had originally considered a completely clear card, but we were concerned about legibility issues, so we went with a frosted/translucent one instead.

Q: A few other design elements that pop out are bold colors and bold fonts in all caps. All caps in particular is something many people use very minimally or shy away from completely. How do these elements represent your company?

These are branding elements found in our logo and all our printed material. It was important to keep consistency amongst our brand.

Q: If you could pick any movement in art or graphic design that best fits with your company’s aesthetic, which one would you pick and why?

Our design style takes elements from various popular movements, but particularly the Swiss Design style with its grid-based layouts, left-justified sans-serif text, and use of white space. We find that it is a strong fit for the verticals in which we work, allowing for high legibility, simplicity of presentation, and emphasis on areas of interaction and conversion.

Q: How was your experience with Morning Print? Anything we can approve upon?

Overall we have really enjoyed our experience working with Morning Print. The price and quality are unbeatable and our business cards always receive positive remarks when handed out. Turnaround times are amazing. They are something we’re all truly proud of.
