Black Paper and Colored Paper

October 9, 2018December 23, 2019 / MorningPrint / Leave a comment

What is the difference between colored paper and printing with ink to color a card?
-Ink printing allows you to create any color you want using CMYK values. This can also mean that it can vary in the final printing result.
-The edge of the ink printed card will be white

Colored Business Cards

Scarlet and Midnight Colored Paper

Is colored paper right for you?
-Yes, if you want the entire card, even the edges to be completely colored.
-Yes, if you want to be absolutely sure of the color you will receive
-Yes, if you like thin business cards, because Color Business Cards are fairly thin.

Colored Business Cards

Indigo and Sapphire Pearl Colored Business Cards

I do not want the colors you offer for Colored Business Cards. Can you change it for me?
-No.
-If you want a different color than what we have offered in our Colored Business Cards, you need to use ink printing to create the color using CMYK values.

Colored Business Cards

Brown Kraft and Antique Gold Pearl

Can I do ink printing on Colored Business Cards?
-You can only print with white ink. Colored paper is so boldly colored, printing using a color other than white will affect the final printed result.

Colored Business Cards

Espresso and Emerald Colored Business Cards

Do I want Midnight or Black Paper?
-Midnight: A thin, black business card option from our Colored Business Cards prints white ink. It only takes one day to finish printing. It can also allows Foiling.
–Black: A thick, black business card with the option to upgrade the paper thickness. The entire design will be done in Foiling.

Black Business Cards

Left to right: Matte Gold Foil, Glossy Gold Foil Black Business Cards

Can Black Paper allow ink printing?
-No
-Black paper is heavily saturated, which makes it difficult to get accurate color representation with ink printing. In order to have accurate color results, we offer Foiling which is stamped on. Therefore, you can be sure of the color in the final result.

Black Business Cards

Left to right: Blue Foil, Pink Foil Black Business Cards

How many Foiling colors can I have?
-As many as you like, after approval of the printing team
-The website automatically focuses on one type of Foiling color per set of Black business cards. However, you can have as many Foiling colors as you like, but you need to run the design through our printing team to make sure there are no technical issues with your design.

Black Business Cards

Glossy Gold Foil with Matte Silver Foil Black Business Cards

I want a thick black business card. What are my options?
-Black Paper business cards are the best choice. They come in two thicknesses; 14pt, which is the standard business card thickness in the U.S. and in 16 pt, which is slightly thicker.

Black Business Cards

Left to right: Black Foil Black Business Cards, Raised Ink Black Business Cards

I want a white ink printed look, but on the thick black paper business cards. What do you recommend?
-Use the Black Paper business cards and select Matte Silver Foiling. Since it has little to no shine, and is a light gray color, it can give a final result of white ink printing.

A Step by Step Guide on How to Order Business Cards

August 28, 2018December 24, 2019 / MorningPrint / Leave a comment

Step One: Set your budget
Business cards can be purchased in a wide range of prices, but budget can still affect your actual options if you want a very specific or customized business card. Budget will definitely play a factor in the next steps.

36300002_1965481073482699_3568574453778481152_o (4)

Step Two A: Decide if you need a Digital Printer or Offset
Deciding which kind of printer you want is based off what type of printing you want done. It is can also be based on budget.
Digital printing is done using toner, like the printers all of us have at home. Larger printers can use ink, but the process is the same as the home printers. Digital printing usually prints cards one at a time, therefore small orders can be placed. While it has improved over time, the quality of color accuracy can vary. This is type of printing is more affordable.

Offset printing is that a plate is created to roll the ink and design onto the cards themselves. All offset printers offer large quantities, because the machines only work with large quantities. That is why you will see a minimum quantity of 100 or 200 depending on the paper. The quality of color accuracy is high. It is slightly more expensive than digital printing, but if you want a certain quality and accuracy in your print job, you might want to consider leaving room in the budget for offset printing.

Step Two B: Decide whether you want a CMYK or Pantone printer
CMYK means that colors are created using the CMYK values of the design C stands for Cyan- blue, M stands for Magenta- red, Y stands for yellow, and K stands for key- black. Therefore the individual quantities you give each of these settings will create the color.
Think of CMYK as when you are coloring as a little kid. If you use an equal amount of blue and red, you will get purple. It is the same thing with CMYK. If you wish to have let’s say a dark blue, make sure the value for K-red is quite low so you will avoid getting the color purple. In general, it is a good idea to remember that with CMYK, you need a wide range between the values to ensure you get the color you want.

Pantone reproduces the most accurate colors in design. With Pantone, you can specify the numbers of the shades you wish to use. Usually you will be priced for the amount of colors you wish to use. However, such accuracy makes Pantone the most costly.

–MorningPrint is an offset CMYK printer, which means we use plates and CMYK colors to print your designs

35652137_1951213108242829_3848806063226748928_o (1)

Step Three: Check your timeline
Choice of printers can be affected by a number of reasons, budget, CMYK or Pantone, delivery, and also processing times. For the most part, it is a good idea to leave printers 2 weeks to process and deliver your order. We can bet some people may be surprised at this length of time, but business cards are a serious purchase. They represent you and your business, and if you rush through the process or do not do your research, there is a good chance that you will feel the cards do not properly represent your standards.

That being said, it can be possible that you need a fast print job. Maybe there is a conference or meet up you were not originally attending, and now you are. We understand that. In such a case, look into custom printers who can print quickly. Not every printer offers that service. If you need same day delivery, we would suggest looking into local digital printers, because you can physically go and pick up the cards yourself. In such cases as these, it is also best to keep your design wishes realistic. Maybe instead of having finishing options, such as Foiling, it might be better to only have ink printing.

-If you need faster printing and delivery, MorningPrint offers fast processing times, including a Same Day Printing service. Just keep in mind, Same Day Printing does not mean same day delivery.
-If you do not need same day delivery, but do need business cards in a week, some of our products which have 1-2 business day processing time might be a good fit for you.

Step Four A: Order samples

Step Four A and Four B are the most important steps in the process.
At MorningPrint, we strongly recommend that everyone order samples from the printer they wish to work with. We do not mean to print a sample card of their specific design. We refer to the actual material itself.

Step Four B: Choose the business card material
Most people finalize their design and then pick a material. It is actually better to choose the material first, because each product has their own specific characteristic, which makes them suited for different design styles. In addition, you will know details such as the brightness of the white, the thickness, the texture, etc. It is easier to design around the material rather than to create a design and find a material that will enhance or complement it.
Once you see the samples, you will also know whether you want a paper or plastic business card. Keep in mind that not all paper or plastics are the same.

-MorningPrint currently offers over 60 different types of paper and over 20 different kinds of plastic business cards. Within paper we have different kinds of shine, matte, thicknesses and whites, colors. In plastic, we have less variety of thickness but a wide variety in appearance. Therefore, it is best you see and feel these cards before you start designing because they may not be what you are imagining.

How to Order Business Cards Customiz Designs

Step Five: Design by yourself or hire a graphic designer
Based on budget, decide whether or not you will get a designer or if you will do the design yourself. Regardless of your choice, you should know that custom printers require a high resolution, at least of 300 dpi to be able to have a high quality print job.
If you choose to design by yourself, keep in mind that most online/mobile graphic design and business card apps produce low resolution designs.
-If you choose to work with MorningPrint, you can use our online template called ‘Customize Designs’ located on almost every product page.
-If you are a graphic designer using MorningPrint, please set the design colors to CMYK setting instead of RGB. RGB is for computer design, not for commercial printing.

How to Order Business Cards Upload Guidelines

Step Six: Follow upload guidelines
Each printer has their own specific instructions to do a proper upload for a custom print order. The reason for this is because each printer has their own specific sizing for business cards, and their own process for business cards.
– MorningPrint has several different business card sizes, such as Standard, European, Slim and Australian (we can also do custom sizing). For standard sizing, we offer downloadable templates for both paper and plastic choices. Keep in mind that if you wish to utilize a Finishing Option, such as Foiling or Raised Ink, you will need to visit those specific pages to incorporate their guideline instructions into your design.

Step Seven: Double check your design/order with the printer before submitting it
Some custom printers automatically offer proofs of your design. Others do not. If your printer does not offer a proof, then try contacting them over the phone or through their customer service center and request one separately.
Also keep in mind that some printers may be able to do a physical proof, others may not be able to. A digital printer will be able to send you physical samples of your card, because they can print small quantities of cards. An offset printer will not be able to do this because they can only handle large quantities of cards. However, an offset printer may be able to do a digital proof.
-MorningPrint uses the design submitted with the order as the final proof. However if you would like a proof, please leave your design in your Shopping Cart and submit a request to our online Customer Center. We will gladly give a digital proof prior to payment.

39748379_2060180860679386_8449329294148108288_n (1)

Step Eight: Submit your order
Each printer has their own website, and their own way of moving through the website to place an order. If you wish to use MorningPrint, read on.
MorningPrint-
1. Create an account (please use an email you will always have access to as we will be using this email to contact you about your order)

3. On the product details page of the product you choose, select an upload process. Choose ‘Customize Designs’ if you wish to create the design yourself, and choose ‘Upload a Complete Design’ if you have the full completed design already done

New Service: Same Day Printing

July 31, 2018December 10, 2019 / MorningPrint / Leave a comment

MorningPrint is excited to announce that we have a new service, Same Day Printing. Same Day Service is meant for those who need an express print job with the fastest possible shipping. Here are the four most common questions regarding our new service. Make sure to cover #4, which discusses delivery in detail.

1. How is Same Day Printing Different from MorningPrint’s Other Services?
Just like our normal service, in Same Day Printing once you place your order, the order will begin printing that same day (except in cases with technical difficulties with the design). The main difference between Same Day Printing and our normal service is all the paper selections under Same Day Printing are guaranteed to finish printing on the day you place the order, as long as you place your order before 7pm PST (and before 5PM PST on Fridays).

2. What Are Important Details to Know About Same Day Printing?
This express service is affordably priced starting at $13.99 for a quantity of 100 cards.

Only ink printing is available for Same Day Printing. If we offered any finishing options then we would not be able to guarantee the order would be done within the same day the order is placed, because all finishing options take 2 business days.

3. What Kind of Papers are Available with Same Day Printing?
With Same Day Printing, you will have a selection of three different types of papers, matte, texture and an eco-friendly metallic.
The matte option is Super Fine Business Cards which is a stiff, matte, creamy white digital paper.
The texture option is Linen Business Cards made of a bright white, thin paper with a matte finish and a woven texture.
The eco-friendly metallic option is Pearl Business Cards is a smooth digital paper with shimmer.

It is also important to keep in mind that all the papers under this section are fairly thin, the thickest being Super Fine Business Cards at 12pt. For reference United States standard thickness is 14pt.

4. How fast is delivery? It depends on your location
Same Day Printing service requires that your order be placed before 7PM PST. With this service, you can expect the package the next business day before 8PM, excluding weekends and holidays. This only applies to the United States and a few other countries.

Summer’s Break Out Color: Orange

Orange Coated Sticker 2

Pictured: A Pumpkin colored Coated Rectangle Round Cornered Sticker

Orange is Summer’s breakout color.
And as this warm season continues, MorningPrint is seeing a growth in business cards, stickers and postcards featuring the vibrant color. Not only do we see the classic orange fruit coloring and also Halloween-orange, we see a full range of orange shades used on a variety of products.

Orange and Blue

Pictured: A Pumpkin colored Standard Coated 14pt Matte

Orange is Bright, Fun and Modern
Orange is a color that can convey a variety of messages.
1. Colors similar to orange peel can signify adventure.
2. Shades similar to Tangerine, look modern and fresh.
3. Richer shades, like Pumpkin can look exotic and bold.

Orange Postcard

Pictured: A Tangerine colored Standard Coated 14pt Matte with Spot UV

Orange goes with Blue, Pink, Green, and White
Blue is one of the best colors to pair with orange, because different shades of blue work with different shades of orange. A sky blue with tangerine can look quite modern, while Pumpkin and a medium blue looks warm and modern.

Orange Coated Sticker Circle

Pictured: An Orange Peel colored Uncoated Circular Sticker

Try to Avoid the Halloween Shades
The Pumpkin shade, can look exotic, but if used with a rich black can resemble Halloween. Avoid being too Halloween-y, by replacing the black with a navy blue or indigo. It has the same bold effect without reminding one of Halloween.

Orange Uncoated Sticker

Pictured: A Pumpkin colored Uncoated Sticker

Intensity of the shades of orange will vary depending on what type of material used.

An Opaque White Plastic business card will give a lighter saturation compared to other products. It is an excellent pair for the shade of Tangerine.

Orange Opaque White Plastic 2

A Vintage Kraft sticker or business card is made of recycled paper. That means their natural color is the same as card board. And while they can accommodate the orange colors with an underlying red tone to them, their natural background will darken any color used on it.

Design of the Month July 2018 Bright

5. Please give us a brief history of your business and some of the services you provide.
I’m a hobby artist that started selling original art and fan-art at anime conventions since 2016. I sell small items, such as buttons, stickers, charms and bookmarks.

6. TeaSomething is an interesting name. Can you explain the meaning behind it?
The word “something” was just what I used to use a lot when I was younger and tea is how you pronounce my name.

Design of the Month July 2018 Transparency

7. Our favorite aspect of your design is the clever use of both sets of transparency of the Clear+White Plastic to create depth. The transparent green as the liquid and the solid character and flowers against the completely clear background. Can you talk to us about that?
Often times, I see pictures/videos of tea where the person would pour hot water on the flowers to make it bloom and it looks prettier when clear tea sets are used. I wanted my business card theme this year to be centered on that aspect but I couldn’t achieve that effect with solid/opaque cards. With a Clear+White Plastic card, I get the nice mimic of a transparent cup where you can see the tea and the flowers.

8. Can you talk to us about the female character featured on your business card?
I added her to give the card a magical feeling and consider her to be my version of Thumbelina.

Design of the Month July 2018 Close Up

9. What do you think of the Clear+White Plastic?
I really like how light weight it feels. It really surprised me to feel how thin it was and it looks fantastic when I hold it up to the light.

10. What is something you think is important for people to know about the Clear+White Plastic?
It’s good to check out the videos to see which card plastic card suits your needs! Make sure to read the note on setting up the file for Clear+White Plastic as it required an extra step.

Design of the Month July 2018 Full Card

11. What made you choose MorningPrint?
MorningPrint had a good selection of Plastic Cards that met my requirements and were also affordable.

12. How was your experience with MorningPrint? Would you recommend us to others?
I had a great experience with MorningPrint! It was a fast and simple process. Everything I needed to know was on the website and I definitely recommend others to use MorningPrint.
